Cards for twins....

My best friends' twins are 19 this week, so I used a couple of my Gelli plate backgrounds to make their cards....both have a metallic shimmer to them but one one is grungier!

Clares Roc Nicholas cat is tissue paper, with gold perfect pearls crown, flower and leaves. The butterflies are metallic and shimmer in the light.

Jack has Heart Throb, printed onto sheet music and standing on a washi tape wall. The diamonds are grunge paste.....

Now I need to think about all the December birthdays.......

Mixed Media Day

Today I attended a mixed media workshop at the Craft Barn, hosted by the lovely Helen Chilton. First workshop I have attended and I loved it!! Here are a few pictures:

Canvas with background stamps...

Added glass paint over the top...

Stamps on shiny paper and coloured with glass paint....

And positioned onto the canvas....

With added grunge paste, gold leaf and black outlines...there were acetate flowers but I didn't think they were needed.

Pleased with the result but may well colour in the faces as the white is quite stark.....

Also my ATC's are finished and will be posted tomorrow :)

Roc's postcard challenge

This month the challenge was to use the same stamp twice, my Roc collection is increasing now and I hadn't used my new ones. I started off making a metallic image using silver, gold and copper Sharpie pens, a metallic stamp pad and a couple of pigs!

Don't like it much tho, I prefer brighter colours, and didn't think anyone would want to receive it! So I made another one, using the lovely cats instead, this time the flowers are coated with glossy accents and the text is embossed, 2 more methods I am trying to improve....

I may add a few more bits to it before the sending date, and flatten it out a bit!

ATC's.....all safely home!

This months' atc's have now all arrived at their destination, the ones I sent to Oregon in US finally landed! Luckily a photograph was posted as I didn't have a record of them.

The picture on the left is the envelope I made for the atc......again L'il Tetewea is made of tissue to make her a bit ghostly but the background is different to the other card I made.

On the same day mine arrived in Oregon, I had a delivery from Florida!! Thank you so much Gerrie, I love them, and the extra Agathas.....the images on the envelope made me smile too!

SDC 169 Black, Purple and Pink

I enjoyed this challenge, sometimes it is easier when you have specific guidelines! The backgroung was one I made a while ago with the Gelli plate and some bubble wrap. The edges were uneven so I added purple ribbon, then there was still some sticky tape showing so I added black spotty ribbon! The sentiment is half of a Dylusions one.....also 3 different washi tapes and of course the Monsters Line up :)

SDC 168 Book text

This week I've made flowers from a dictionary (£1 in Hospice shop) and an old map of London (actually a sheet of wrapping paper from the Saatchi Gallery). Have used bright colours this week, and Agatha is delivering her heart to the Monster......

Hope you like it x

Birthdays....

This week my lil brother is 50, he has numerous gifts but I decided to make him something for his home, he always says it needs a womans touch! I have a deep frame and used a picture of the 2 of us on the beach, and used some shells from our local beach....

The hearts and twine are from my last Art from the Heart delivery....the photo looks quite pink here but it isn't really ♥

ATC's coming and going....

Love these atc exchanges! Only one problem, I forgot to photograph them before I posted them! Last month I got carried away and put them on here too early, this month I didn't bother at all, doh!
Luckily Fran, who was the first lady to receive her posted them on Facebook....

I stamped L'il Tatawea onto tissue paper to make her a little more ghostly, and made a little envelope for it, the other side has a poison sign on it. The other atc is slightly different so I hope it goes on Facebook when it arrives!

I also received one this week, from Carla, it is totally fab, I love little Head, only here he seems to have lost his! Carla also sent me some lovely spooky embellishments :)

Happy Saturday!

Today I have managed to catch up with my cards for the Altered playing card challenge, finally completed weeks 4 and 5, just in time for week 6

Not entirely happy with the 'home' ones, but I'm pretty pleased with the other two....

Also, in other news, my Roc postcard from the lovely Valerie in Canada arrived to day, it is utterly fabulous!!

Love these swaps, my atc's were posted this week so should arrive soon too, excited!

SDC 167 'Masculine'

I have tried to come up with a 'masculine' design for this weeks challenge, for a change it is all Tim Holtz stamps apart from one,

The picture is a bit wonky as it is a large size 12 tag, standing on a small easel! I was quite pleased with the background as it was my first attempt with a Gelli plate, and it looks like leather....

SDC 166 Get your spook on

This week I have found tricky because I only have 2 Halloween stamps, a witch and my L'il Tetewea, who I'm saving for the atc swap. I also don't have a lot of ephemera to use so have to be a creative. Having seen the entries from the design team, fabulous as always, I decided to do something completely different. Unfortunately it isn't very spooky! However it is very difficult to attach a Sat Nav to a broomstick.....this one won't be entered into the challenge this week, not up to scratch!

Autumn

Yesterday was the first day of Autumn, and a couple of days ago I admired a beautiful tag which was submitted as part of the SDC 165 challenge. I have 'borrowed' a few ideas....

SDC 165 One stamp

This week Sams challenge was to use only one stamp, I chose Hearthrob, and put him in a picture frame and hung him on the wall! very little ink or paint used, as the background was supposed to look like wallpaper

Altered playing card challenge week 3

Really enjoyed doing these this afternoon, very relaxing and experimented mixing up my Distress Inks to use as water colours, quite pleased with how they turned out.....

ATC's arrived!

Today both ATC's arrived, I have been watching the post for days and today they came and how fab are they?! I love them both so much, they will be kept safely and admired frequently, happy face!
Thank you so much to Kris Johnson in Yorkshire and Gemma Maggs in New Jersey.....

I hope the ones I made arrive safely, I know one of them has....

SDC 164 Birds or Animals

I have managed to do a challenge this week, I can join in when I have a relevant stamp! This week I have given Top Hat his first outing, and used my favourite cat quote :)

He looks very pleased with himself.......

Busy week!

I haven't had a lot of time to play this week as my shifts are all lumped together, but I did get up in my room for a couple of hours this afternoon, this makes me happy!

I have finally made the first 2 cards for Claudines altered playing card challenge. Unfortunately the gesso was too thin and you can still see the cigarette advert underneath, they are VERY old cards!! I have put another layer on the next ones....

Not really delighted with them, hoping to have more time to spend on the next ones :) but it was fun to use Janet Kleins' digi stamps for the first time..

Sunday mess

I managed to get an hour upstairs this afternoon, I made a wallet for a CD and then took the chance to mess about with a couple of new stamps and my Dylusions stencil and words.....not for anything in particular, just doodling.....

Organisation and new stamps!

My other 2 Stampotique stamps arrived today, now I have 11.... really mustn't buy anything else now for a while....I have a Christmas snowman and a witch for Halloween (plus other non Stampotique bits and pieces) so I should be sorted for a while now!
Also the spice rack arrived so I can store my inks and sprays where I can see them AND now have space on my little table to work, happy days ;)

Also had a Dylusions stencil and a couple of other stamps arrive....my new addiction is getting expensive!

Altered playing card challenge....

I am going to join in Claudine Wagner Criners altered playing card challenge, we are going to alter 2 cards a week from next week. Hopefully work won't get in the way! Our first task was to cover every card in gesso ready for next week....exciting!!

In other news I have had 3 more Stampotique stamps arrive today! I now have 9!! Go me...2 more coming tomorrow, including another Roc design, smiley face!!

Roc Nicholas September Postcard swap

A heart in your art....

My only Roc stamp....I have another on the way! My heart was captured in the bird cage, and my bird escaped! I didn't use paints or sprays on the background as this has to be sent naked and I didn't want to stain the back of the card. It was already a pretty colour though :)

Card for Lauren

Card for Lauren C......even though she has nominated me for the ice bucket challenge!!

Birthday card.....3 layers of paper, the top sheer layer matches the thick paper for the card, ribbon and bunting along the top

September Stampotique ATC

I have signed up for the September Stampotique ATC, the title for this month is 'Naughty'. This is my first time and it was a challenge to fit any detail in around the wording and my little man Head. The cards I used were from Ranger but because I always make a mess on the back, I stuck another piece of card over the splashes. The background colours and wording are Dylusions and my little friend is Head from Stampotique. The words were glazed with Glossy Accents. I have also made a tag to go with each ATC card.

I hope they are good enough!

SDC 161 Flowers

Yum Yum arrived today! I decided to use coloured blue card to make a night time garden, I have darker card but the flowers wouldn't have shown up.
I do need to find a way to show the true colours in the photographs
